Lieber murdoc, danke für die Blumen - oder sogar Blumenstrauss, müsste man fast sagen. Das mit dem Nachschub ist etwas unbestimmt; ich arbeite nicht gerade rasend schnell, und oft zweifle ich an den Dingen, die ich kreiern will. Dann bleibt halt schon mal was liegen oder wird von mir als "hopeless" taxiert und vernichtet.

Wusste gar nicht, dass The Raven jemals verfilmt wurde. Ich bin mit E. A. Poe aufgewachsen, weil die Mutter eines Schulkollegen uns seine Geschichten und Gedichte machmal an Winterabenden vorgelesen hatte. Zu diesen Vorlesungen servierte sie jeweils selbstgebrauten Rumpunsch. Vielleicht nicht unbedingt das optimale Getränk für 10-jährige, aber geschmeckt hat's trotzdem. Sie war Österreicherin, mit Kinderlähmungsschäden (am Gehstock) und permanentem Kopftuch (die Gebrüder Grimm lassen grüssen); also eine recht passende Figur für Poe's seltsame Erzählungen. Diese denkwürdigen Abende fanden allerdings nur statt, wenn die gewalttätgen Brüder meines Schulfreundes und der ewig besoffene Ehemann und Vater ausser Haus waren. In diesem Haushalt wurde schon mal mit einer Winchester auf Familienmitglieder geschossen, zu anderen Zeiten machten Wurfmesser die Luft eher ungesund. Eine nicht alltägliche Familie, die machmal recht verunsichernd auf mich wirkte.

Really nice, I love the mood but I have to be honest about the fact that that bird could be blended a little better, especially the "feet" and the tail... these parts are a little to pasted. IMHO.
Apart from that, great work!!!

Thank you. I work with a screen that's optimized for color and print workflow, and here, that bloody bird doesn't look too artificial, it blends in rather softly. But after your comment I checked on Carol's new shiny laptop computer. Because hers got higher contrast and cooler colors, the frigging bird does not look very natural. And its right leg is a fake anyway. I got to make a habit of checking such stuff on Carols gear after finishing. This might help to better control the average appearance. A difficult task because hardly any two screens display pictures the same way.

Another weakness of this manipulation can be found in its different light sources. The candle, the lamp, and an unseen small (and virtual) window with daylight which highlights the raven and Poe's portrait on the cover of the book. To adjust colors and shadows in a convincing way was - as they would say in Australia, and probably in California too - a bitch. I lost patience and nearly deleted the whole thing. Finally, I shrugged my shoulders and submitted it with mixed feelings. And I got away with it, mostly, except for your keen and unerring eye. I hope that one day I'll come up with something to trick even you into believing what you see.

I know what you are talking about... I always try to see my pictures on different monitors but as you say, it never appears the same...
I'm sure you are perfectly able to "fool" anybody. They say: practice makes perfect. So keep up the good work
